The Dallara aerodynamic department has always offered the extraordinary opportunity to work on the development of very different cars, with Dallara or customer brand, covering a large part of the Motorsport world and an equally important range of the most performing and engaging road cars. Simultaneously, aerodynamic development studies are carried out on activities that, although not linked to the automotive field, are related to sporting events of absolute global significance.

In this unique and motivating context, we are looking for an aerodynamicist who, using Design, CFD and the Wind Tunnel tests in an integrated way, is able to manage the aerodynamic development of such projects. Working in dedicated teams, the aerodynamicist will be constantly engaged on the entire development loop, from design to data analysis, interacting with working groups inside and outside the department, bringing car performance to target.
The workplace is in Varano de' Melegari, in the Emilian MotorValley, within the Dallara Campus, between the MUNER university centre, Simulator, Headquarters, R&D and Production Departments, in a young (average 34), stimulating and informal environment, with young talents from all over Italy and beyond.

Requirements:

Junior Structural Analyst - Functional Sizing

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to carry out an internship in the Structural Performance Department - Functional Sizing Area - of Dallara.  In this department we perform analyses on the main parts of the vehicle: chassis, suspensions, bodyworks and complex mechanisms. The focus is on the functionl behavior of the components, from strenght to stiffness, to fatigue and vibrations, considering both linear and non linear aspects. Since performance is the result of the correct union of contributions from multiple disciplines, interactions with the Aerodynamics, Vehicle Dynamics, Testing and Design Office are very frequent.

Requirements:

- Newly graduated (less than 12 months) with Master's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering

Outdoor Testing Mechanic 

We are currently seeking a talented mechanic who will work on vehicles assembly, maintenance and inspection with the ultimate scope of outdoor testing support. The activities carried out in the headquarter will be mainly vehicle setups and tooling preparation, while outdoor activities will take place from track to road environments together with specific test benches. The job will increase personal knowledge on high performance vehicles nonetheless will be stimulating on prototype related problem solving. The Outdoor testing mechanic will work close to all the product development related Dallara department like for instance the Indoor Testing area.

Requirements:

- 4-5 years experience as Race or workshop mechanic 
- Available for frequent business trips with national and or international destinations

Senior CFD Methodologist

Our CFD methodology is a fundamental part to the aerodynamic development of each car, not only from the process point of view, to speed up and make each phase more efficient, but also from the product point of view, in order to be more accurate in describing the aerodynamic behavior of the car. We are therefore growing our CFD methodology group to enhance our CFD tools and ensure that every CFD test is as effective as possible in understanding the car behavior and reaching aerodynamic targets and performance.

The candidate will have a MSc Degree in a relevant engineering discipline, (preferably in Aerospace Engineering) with a strong background in turbulence modelling and CFD methodology. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

In the senior role required for this position you will be expected to:

  •  Provide guidance to other engineers and take a lead in key aspects of the group’s work.
  •  Develop methodologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our CFD tools and workflow.
  •  Support and optimize existing CFD tools including monitoring and resolving issues.
  •  Work with senior CFD engineers and aerodynamicists to understand correlation aspects and develop methods and processes to improve this.
  •  Ensure that CFD simulations and analysis carried out within the department are state of the art and aligned with the capability of the tools.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  •  5 years of previous experience in CFD Methodology are required, preferably in F1 teams.
  •  Excellent team player and able to work effectively with other groups.
  •  Experience applying CFD knowledge to drive effective engineering solutions.
  •  Proven ability to work at a fast pace and to react rapidly to new information.
  •  Experience of Python, Java, C++, and Unix shell scripting would be beneficial.
  •  Experience of Ansys software (Fluent and Fluent-Meshing), ANSA, and Creo PTC would also be beneficial, but not essential.

Junior Quality Assurance Engineer

The candidate, once entered within the Quality Assurance department of the Group, will have the opportunity to cooperate with the different business departments in order to guarantee compliance with and improvement of the aesthetic and functional requirements of Dallara products. The candidate will analyze customers’ specifications, sector regulations and the non-compliances that emerged, contributing in this way to the constant improvement of the processes. He/her will actively cooperate in the creation and implementation of new procedures or operative instructions according to Automotive, Racing e Aerospace standards, in order to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the processes and to guarantee the compliance with customers’ requirements and mandatories. By an initial training period, the candidate will develop the mastery of the main certification standards (ISO 9001, EN9100, AER.Q, PART21…), the knowledge of the documentary and procedural structure of Dallara Group and of the assembly and supply specifications of the components. He/her will also acquire the ability to follow the product approval in the various production steps, to interface with other departments in order to improve the quality of the product, to manage the controls aimed at maintaining the company certifications, to monitor regulatory reviews and customer’s specifications for the various orders, to analyze customer’s claims by defining corrective actions aimed at minimizing product defects on the market or for future orders, to develop the company maintenance and calibration plan, to analyze the principal business indicators, to write a FAI report, a CoC or any other documentation necessary for product deliberation.

Requirements:

  • Engineering Degree – preferably Mechanical, Vehicle, Materials or Managing Engineering
  • Maximum 2-3 years of experience in production contexts or in roles in the Quality Area
  • High level of fluency in English
  • Excellent knowledge of the Office suite
  • Flexibility, strong motivation and good communication and teamwork skills
  • Capacity for initiative, enterprise and professionalism
  • Ability to read and interpret a technical design

Structural Analyst - Functional Sizing

In the Structural Performance - Functional Sizing Group we perform analyses on the main parts of the vehicle: chassis, suspensions, bodyworks and complex mechanisms. In order to strengthen our team, we are looking for aFunctional Sizing Engineer; in this role, he/her will take full responsibility for assigned projects and designs, taking them from concept through to assembly, specifying tests and developing designs, production techniques and quality improvements in order to deliver class leading components to the car.

Junior Electronics Engineer


We are looking for recently graduated electronics engineer to join our growing electronics team in Dallara to work on motorsports, automotive and R&D electronics projects. The ideal candidate can use their fundamental engineering knowledge and practices to support the design, development and integration of vehicle electronic systems, working closely with senior level engineers and managers. We also expect a significant level of practical experience when integrating electronic systems into vehicles and troubleshooting electrical issues, both digital and analog. Some experience with low voltage vehicle systems is expected, including a working knowledge of sensors and instrumentation, as well as common digital communication protocols (e.g. CAN, Ethernet) and associated wiring/harness design. Past experience working in motorsports or automotive (e.g. Formula Student) is a significant plus, as is any knowledge of high power, high voltage, hybrid and fully-electric, vehicles and their systems.

Senior Electronics Engineer


We are looking for a skilled and motivated engineer to join the growing electronics team in Dallara to work on motorsports, automotive and R&D electronics projects. The ideal candidate has already matured significant experience in motorsports and/or automotive electronics and is keen to take a proactive role in the planning, design and implementation of vehicle electronics systems, while also passing on their experience to junior members of the team.

Your Contribution:

  • Develop vehicle integration strategy for electrical systems including
  • Define architecture for power generation, management, and storage; CAN architecture and integration of vehicle communication systems.

Junior Structural Analyst - Passive Safety

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to become part of Dallara's Structural Performance - Passive Safety department. Specifically, the selected resource will deal with the study and development of the main safety structures for both racing and high-performance road cars. He/her will have the opportunity to be an active part in the definition of structural performance throughout the design flow of the components: from the setting and concept phase to the final prototype phase. Through implicit and explicit linear and non-linear analyses, he/her will be able to identify the guidelines for the design of chassis and energy absorption structures for racing cars. In the automotive sector, through the in-depth use of explicit non-linear analyses and the management of complex models of complete cars (full scale), he/her will be able to identify the best guidelines to manage and optimize crash behaviour with the aim of achieve the main homologation requirements imposed by the most important international protocols.
